With New Machine, Area Print Finisher Expands Mechanical Binding Services

Lorton, Va. - Nationwide Laminating, a leading print finisher in the mid-Atlantic, added Wire-O binding capabilities in January 2005. The Lorton-based post-press provider increases mechanical binding services for the second time this year after purchasing a Kugler Automatic Punching Machine to open the year.

Sometimes called 'double loop' binding, Wire-O binding is produced by closing pairs of pre-formed loops down the spine of a book. One of the most versatile binding styles available, Wire-O binding allows books to lay flat and be turned 360 degrees on any page. Like other mechanical binding styles, it allows designers to mix stocks of a variety of thicknesses and finishes.

The Wire-O binding system, when partnered with the Kugler automatic punching system, increases efficiency and turnaround, according to Brian Hills, President of Nationwide Laminating.

"Wire-O binding is incredibly popular with our customers, and this investment represents our commitment to their needs," said Hills. "With the combination of the machines we've acquired to open 2005, Nationwide is more efficient and ready to handle jobs of any run length."
